Bernard E. “Bernie” Winslow, 92, of East Smithfield, PA, passes away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Gladys Mae (Raymond) Winslow who passed away August 31, 1984.
Bernie was born on November 15, 1926 on Spring Hill, near Wyalusing, PA, son of the late Ernest and Ina (Howland) Winslow. He was a US Army veteran and had achieved the rank of corporal and was awarded the Bronze Star before his discharge. Bernie had his own construction and excavating company in the East Smithfield area. In his leisure time he enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
Bernie is survived by his children: Richard D. (Cindy) Winslow of East Smithfield, Mary (Hank) Armstrong of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Sara A. Guiles of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys, his son Bernard E. Winslow, II, and his son-in-law Glenn Guiles.
There will be a private family service at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the cemetery and Memorial service/dish to pass for family and friends from 5-8 pm at the East Smithfield Veterans Memorial Park 3106 Rolling Hills Road Milan Pa 18831. . The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
