Marian Francis (Bennett) Swayze, 95, of Waverly, NY passed away peacefully on September 11, 2017 at Elderwood of Waverly. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Kilmer Swayze who passed away on October 26, 2005.  The couple married February 21, 1942 and had 63 happy years together.

Marian was born on October 27, 1921 in Williamsport, PA, the daughter of the late George A. and Alma L. (Harrison) Bennett. Throughout her life Marian was a strong contributing church member, first at the First Baptist Church of Chemung where she played the organ and piano from the age of 17, even directing the choir. At the age of 84 she moved to Waverly, NY and joined Crossroads Family Ministries in Sayre, PA. She was a part-time piano teacher and then was employed as Ward Clerk of the Maternity Ward of Robert Packer Hospital for 14 years. She spent her final years living independently at Elizabeth Square Apartments in Waverly, NY, enjoying visits from family and sharing her new-found talent for telling jokes.

She is survived by her three children, Edward B. Swayze of Ithaca, New York, Susan Swayze Robinson of Sayre, Pennsylvania, and Gary Z. Swayze, of Spencer, New York, and her daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Lanterman Swayze, Marvin Robinson, and Nancy Lohmann Swayze. Marian was a proud grandmother of  eight grandchildren Lisa Swayze of Ithaca, New York, Kathy Swayze of Washington, DC, and Eddie Swayze of Rochester, NY; Mary Beth Robinson Diedrich of  Gillett, PA, Carol Robinson of Sayre, PA, and Patrick Robinson of Altus, Oklahoma, Melissa Swayze Chiusano of Spencer, NY, and David Swayze of Spencer, NY, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Marian is predeceased by her parents, her husband Edward K. Swayze and her 4 sisters.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 1:00-2:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service to honor Marian’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 15th at the funeral home with her pastor, Rev. Tyson Wahl officiating.  Burial will be private at the convenience of Marian’s family.
