1952-2018

As I sit here reflecting on life I am attempting to write an obituary for Randy. My mind keeps racing in all directions as I struggle to stay focused. How do I do him justice? One common thread I keep returning to is a quote I have heard that every person crosses our path for a reason each one will teach us a lesson. What lessons have been taught?

Randy crossed the paths of many making a positive impact on each. He was one of those souls that entered as a stranger but left as a friend. He lived his life rising above many obstacles while finding the good in all situations. No matter how difficult a day may have been he would face each tomorrow with a smile. 

Most recently his fight was with that vicious, cruel disease of Cancer. Still, he held his head high and moved forward never letting it destroy the kindness within, making him the winner in this fight. 

I remember sitting at his bedside weeks back, during a heart-to-heart conversation with Dr. Lowry and Randy said "I am working hard to handle this graciously, am I doing a good job?"  Still today, I answer that with "Yes Randy you are doing an AMAZING JOB!"

Three times that I am aware of, during this period, Randy had mentioned that he had seen the Angels of his parents watching over him giving him strength & guidance. When he took his last breath I am sure he was greeted at Heaven's Gate by Our Lord, welcomed with the open arms of his parents Charles & Marion Wood, his 2nd mother Helen Wood Cobler, sister Marscha Dunckley Allen, brother Bob Dunckley. Grandparents & many others. 

Randy leaves behind many whose lives have been changed for the better by his presence.  Survived by his sisters: Patsi Spoonhower, Maryellen Spoonhower, Susie Decker, Nancy Stephens & their families. Many cousins, nieces & nephews. His very dear friend Norma Cook & her daughter Penny.

The Nursing Staff @ Robert Packer Hospital, Riverview Nursing Home, Lourdes Family Care, Owego NY, Tioga County Mental Hygiene, Tioga County Sherriff's Department, Devon, Deana, Molly & staff from Elmira, and multiple business establishments throughout Tioga & Chemung County.
