Alfred M. Martin of Wellsburg, NY, also known as Big Al or Sonny by his loved ones, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA following an illness. Alfred was born May 24, 1943 in Elmira, NY son of the late Alfred & Josephine (Jones) Martin. He grew up in North Chemung and was a graduate of Southside High School. He worked as a salesman at Bob’s Honda. Big Al loved music, cars, NASCAR, fishing, camping at Lake Bonin and his dogs. He loved making people laugh and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Surviving are his wife Jeanne Martin of Wellsburg, sister, Delores Brown of North Chemung, daughter Linda (Daniel) Ortiz of Waverly, grandchildren, Avery, Julian and Melina Ortiz, daughter, Debra Fitch and her five children, his daughter, Susana Breese-Owens and her husband Jaimie Owens, son Christopher Breese, sister-In-law Joyce and Donald Weston and many nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors, Michael, Michelle, Loren, Stacy, Henry, Austin, Ann and Carol.
In addition to his parents Al was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara & Jim Walker, father and mother-in-law, Ralph & Mary Mattison.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday October 28, 2015 from 5 to 6 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Al’s memorial service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6 PM the funeral home.
