Alvin "Butch" Coats

Alvin G.” Butch” Coats, Age 73, of Ridgebury Township, PA passed away Monday, January 31, 2022, with his family at his side. He was born April 3, 1948, in Elmira, NY son of the late Harry & Sarah (Potter) Coats. He was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy and following graduation joined the US Army where Butch served his country from 1968 to 1970. Upon his return home he and the late Elizabeth A. Nero were married on November 27, 1971. Butch was retired from Durabuilt following 37 years of employment. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing guitar and being the lead singer in his rock & roll band the Starlight, golfing and watching TV.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Mechelle & Cecil Perry, Scott & Kristen Coats, and Ken Nero all of Bentley Creek, a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald & Cheryl Coats of Woodhall, a sister Waneta Strolh of Elmira, four grandchildren, thirteen great- grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife Elizabeth A. Coats on March 6, 2020, a sister Martha Coats and brother -in-law, Edward Strolh.

Family and friends are invited to call Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 11 AM to 12 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY 14894. His service will be held at 12 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be when weather permits in Bentley Creek Cemetery.
