Charles Louis "Chuck" Hofmann, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence. Born in Elmira, NY, Chuck was known for his warm spirit and dedication to family and community.
Chuck worked in both the mail room and in composing for the Elmira Star-Gazette. Outside of work, Chuck found joy in the great outdoors, spending countless hours hunting and fishing. He also had a lifelong fascination with trains, which brought him much happiness.
He was baptized in the Lutheran Church but attended Berrytown and Millerton Wesleyan churches with his devoted wife, Holly. A proud veteran, Chuck served his country in the United States Army, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism.
Chuck married the love of his life, Holly K. Leonard. Together, they built a beautiful family, sharing 48 years of marriage filled with love and laughter.
Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anna Mary (Rittenhouse) Hofmann, and his brothers, David and Robert Hofmann, Chuck's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Holly; his children, Ronald (Nancy) Hofmann of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, Terri Hofmann of Elmira, NY, Michael Hofmann of Binghamton, NY, Donna Hofmann (Walt Jennings) of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, and Robert Hofmann of West Palm Beach, FL; and his cherished grandchildren: Tim, Mike, Tyler, Emily, Melissa, Jeremy, Vanessa, Gwen, Cheyenne, Patrick, and Savannah. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Amy, Stella, Fynn, Matilda, and Constantin, his brother Glenn Hofmann of Gainesville, VA, and his sister Alice Hofmann of Elmira, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.
Chuck's legacy of kindness, loyalty, and strength will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His family will hold a private service at their convenience to honor his memory. Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsburg, NY, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
