E. Louise ((Groce)) Dann

E. Louise (Groce) Dann, 94, of Ridgebury Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of L. Philip Dann. The couple married June 17, 1948 and had 72 happy years together.

Louise was born on November 9, 1926 in Emlenton, PA, daughter of the late Robert and Mildred (Salinger) Groce. She was a graduate of Addison High School and Rockport College. Louise was a life-long educator, retiring from the Owego-Apalachin Central Schools June 25, 1982 after many years of service. After retirement Louise obtained her real estate license and sold homes for Long & Foster in Warrington, VA and was a volunteer tax preparer for senior citizens.  She was a member of the New York State Teacher’s Union, the Royal Order of Elks #1039 in Owego, NY, and was on the planning board for the Town of Owego. Louise enjoyed puzzles, playing bridge, and spending time with her family and friends.

Louise is survived by her husband Philip, her children: Dr. Lynn Philip (Kathleen Breedlove) Dann, II of Sylva, NC, Kathleen (Rev. Dr. Gregory) Hall of Clarence, NY, Donalyn (Steven) Key of Strasburg, VA, and James (Bernadette) Dann of Endwell, NY, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sisters Shirley Stacconi of Endwell, NY, and Jean (Jack) Dodson of Sodus Bay, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Joel Bruce Dann, and sister Roberta Doddodo

Family and friends are welcome to gather from 12:00-1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. The memorial service to celebrate Louise’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 27th at the funeral home with her son-in-law Rev. Dr. Gregory Hall officiating.
