Helen Louise (Whitesell) Clark of Wellsburg, NY, born on September 23, 1937 in Westfield, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 3, 2026 in Ithaca, New York at the age of 88.
Helen was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and quick-witted humor touched all who knew her. She married the love of her life, Paul D. Clark, on August 2, 1958, and together they shared 55 years of marriage until his passing.
In her earlier years, Helen graduated from Troy High School in Troy, PA and went on to attend the Del Kader School of Beauty Culture in Elmira, NY, where she obtained her cosmetology license. She offered hairdresser services at her home, even doing hair for the Bodine ladies of Chemung. Later, Helen devoted her efforts to helping her husband with his lawnmower and chainsaw sales and service business, being the lovely voice who answered the phone or doorbell.
Helen had a passion for cooking and baking, a love that was evident in the delicious meals and treats she prepared for her family. She enjoyed watching cooking shows and reading magazines, always eager to discover new recipes and techniques. Helen likewise found beauty in flowers and foliage, among her favorites being roses, hollyhocks, irises, lilies, and fern. She loved the blaze of yellow from her forsythia bushes every spring.
A woman of deep faith, Helen found solace and joy in hymns and Christian music, especially cherishing "In The Garden" and "God on the Mountain." She often watched online sermons and other Christian programming, drawing inspiration from the messages. Prayer was a lifeline for Helen, and she showed love by praying for others.
Preceding her in death were her beloved parents, Clarence and Frances (Seymour) Whitesell, and her dear husband, Paul. She is survived by her loving children: Kimberly L. (John) Reilly of Groton, NY, Timothy P. (Valerie) Clark of Gillett, PA, and Heather H. Clark of Wellsburg, NY; four cherished grandchildren; five precious great-grandchildren; and her brother, Stanley (Sherry) Whitesell of North Dakota, along with several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of Helen’s family and will be officiated by Pastor Stephen Crupi of Christian Faith Fellowship Church. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Faith Fellowship, 719 Holdridge St., Elmira, NY 14904.
