Helena L. (Bowers) Barr

Helena L. (Bowers) Barr, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, in Lowman, NY, at the age of 101. Born on April 4, 1923, in Hornell, NY, Helena lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to her family and community. Helena was a devoted homemaker who took immense pride in caring for her home and loved ones. She also worked as a nurse's aide and later served as a crew leader at the A&P Plant. Additionally, she was an integral part of her late husband Manley's team, assisting with their trailer park, apartments, and other business ventures. In her leisure time, Helena enjoyed square dancing, camping, traveling, and wintering in Lake Wales, FL. She was a woman of strong faith and attended services at the Odessa Baptist Church.

Helena leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her children Wayne (Barbara) Barr of Cayuta, NY, Ronald Barr of San Antonio, TX, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Barr of Elmira, NY, and Janeen (David) Warrick of Horseheads, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin Bowers and Mabel Ann (Demery) Bowers, her beloved husband Manley V. Barr, and five siblings.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-7:00 PM on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM. Interment will take place at Chemung Cemetery.
