Kenneth E. Smith
July 6, 1932 — February 13, 2015
Kenneth E. Smith, 82, of Elmira, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb 13, 2015 with his loving wife of 26 years, Patricia A. Smith, by his side. He was surrounded by his family, all who loved him dearly.
He is predeceased by his sister Shirley; survived by sisters Nancy, Charlotte and Minerva ; Son Kenny Jr. (Flo) and daughter, Tina (Todd) Hammond; Stepchildren Lisa Tice, Alan Scholtisek, Richard (Catherine) Scholtisek, Diane (Mike) Eckman, Walter (Mindy) Freeman ; grandchildren Annie (Jareth), Amanda (Matthew), Rachel (Brian), Michael, Heather, David, Tianna, Vickie, Hunter, Kara and many great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Ken was born in Mt. Union, PA and later went to reside in Elmira. He was happy for 20 years driving truck for Herr’s. He enjoyed the simple things in life...fishing, gardening, canning the fruits of his labor, “catching” squirrels. He loved to play solitaire, always trying to beat Pat’s score! Ken always had a joke - the kind one had to think about before shaking their head and laughing. He had a kind, wonderful heart and will be missed by all who had the honor to know and love him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Feb 22, 2015 2pm at the East Hill Fire Dept. on Jerusalem Hill. A special thanks to the Fire Dept, Don Knapp, Greg, Phil & Rose Zito and Dave Tuller.
