Madge (Keiffer) Grace

Madge (Keiffer) Grace, 86, of Chemung, NY, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of Arthur W. Grace.  The couple married July 6, 1947 and had 67 happy years together.

Madge was born on July 24, 1928 in Elmira, NY, daughter of the late Earl and Hilda (Hardy) Keiffer.  She was a 1946 graduate of Corning’s North Side High School went on to be the Post Master at the Chemung Post Office for 36 years until her retirement in 1989.  Madge was a member of the Chemung United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards and dominoes, bowling, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.

Madge is survived by her husband Arthur, her children Steven (Cindy) Grace of Windsor, CT, and Rebecca (Stephen) Horton of Chemung, NY, her grandchildren: Geoff (Jen) Grace, Michael (Araceli) Grace, Kevin (Sarah) Grace, Andrea (Jenn) Grace, Nathon (Jessica) Horton, Jason Horton, and Anthony (Stefanie) Horton, eleven great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews including special nieces Dorothy Van Deusen, Sharon Wood, Barb Pfiffer, and Barb Mackenzie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Gerald and Rexford Grace, her sister Frances Patrick, and her niece Bonnie Fuller.

Services will be private, at the convenience of Madge’s family.  The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
