Marion L. Kelly, 91, of Wellsburg, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025. Born on August 21, 1934, in Towanda, PA, Marion was the daughter of the late Howard and Faith Murphy.
Marion was a proud graduate of Towanda High School. Over the years, she worked diligently at Remington Rand, the Tomahawk Restaurant, The Village Tavern, Iszard’s Tea Room, and Elmira Grinding Works. Beyond her work, Marion’s heart was always with her family and community. She was most often found in her kitchen preparing a meal, or at the side of her beloved family and friends, offering her warmth, kindness, and hospitality.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 54 years, Donald A. Kelly; her son, David Kelly; her brothers, Fenton Murphy, LaVere Murphy, Jesse Murphy, and Dawson Murphy; her sisters, Mary Slater and Beulah Bailey; and her cherished four-legged companion, Molly.
Marion is survived by her loving children: Joseph (Jolene) Kelly of Warrenton, VA; James (Kay) Kelly of East Smithfield, PA; Jane (James) Campbell of Wellsburg, NY; and Elizabeth (Jeff) Stoquert of Wellsburg, NY; as well as her daughter-in-law, Connie Kelly of Spring Hills, FL. She was the proud grandmother of Cheyenne, Danielle, Cayla, Jennifer, Kelly, Patrick, James, Jordan, Kyle, and Kamrin, and a great-grandmother to Jaxson, Blake, Breyahna, Farrah, Christopher, Cooper, Weston, Evelyn, William, Brennan, Jayna, and Asher.
A woman of deep faith, unwavering devotion and service, Marion was a lifetime member of the Wellsburg Volunteer Fireman’s Auxiliary, where she served as past Auxiliary President. She also attended Wellsburg United Methodist Church, Chemung Christian Fellowship, and Berrytown Wesleyan Church.
Marion’s greatest joy was found in her family. She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating countless memories together, whether camping at Lake Bonin, playing cards, dancing with her husband and friends, sharing coffee with her dearest girlfriends (especially her best friend of 55 years, Marcy Roberts), or cooking meals that brought everyone to her table. She will be remembered for her generosity, humor, and her ability to make everyone feel at home.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at both Towanda Personal Care Home and the Sayre Personal Care Residence for the kindness and compassion shown to Marion during her time in their care, as well as to the caregivers at Bradford Hills, who embraced her with dignity in her final days. The family finds comfort in knowing that Marion is now dancing in Heaven with her beloved friend and caretaker from Sayre Personal Care Residence, her “Angel Amy.”
Marion lived her life in service to her family, her community, and her faith. Her spirit of love, resilience, and devotion will continue to shine brightly through those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
