Melody Lee (Peckens) Freeman

Melody Lee (Peckens) Freeman, born on June 4, 1960, in Elmira, NY, passed away peacefully at her home in Ridgebury on February 22, 2025, at the age of 64.

Melody dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Her compassion and dedication touched the lives of many patients and colleagues alike.

Beyond her professional life, Melody found immense joy in spending time with family and friends. She held a deep love for her dogs and all animals. Melody was a talented cook, known for preparing memorable Sunday dinners and holiday meals that brought her loved ones together. She also cherished her time by the water, whether it was swimming or relaxing at the lakeside cottage, where she found peace and happiness.

Melody is survived by her devoted husband, Gregory J. Freeman, and her beloved children who brought her great pride and joy: Richard and Melisia Kintz, Allan and Jennifer Kintz, Jennifer (Dom) Freeman, and Jeffrey Freeman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Justin Kintz and Madison Gordon. She is also survived by her siblings Daniel Weakland, Wendy (Leo) Kawczenski, Peter and Janet Peckens, and Cindy Weakland, as well as her father-in-law Eugene Freeman (Pat Welch). Melody leaves behind several cherished nieces and friends who will miss her dearly. Melody is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy H. and Vivian M. (Wilson) Peckens, her brother Richard Weakland, her mother-in-law Patricia Freeman, and her niece Tara Bellgraph.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family to honor Melody's life and the love she shared with all who knew her. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
