Neal Albert Halstead, a pillar of the community and beloved family member, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, at Sayre Health Care in Sayre, Pennsylvania, at the age of 95. Born on May 27, 1930, in Rochester, New York, Neal lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and community service.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Neal honorably served his country during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he dedicated his life to farming and community service. As a dairy farmer at the Halstead Brothers Farm, Neal worked the land with diligence and passion, contributing to the agricultural heritage of the region. His commitment to environmental stewardship was evident through his role as a past director of the Conservation District of Bradford County. Neal also engaged actively in local government, serving as a Ridgebury Township Supervisor and as a board member of the Bradford County Sanitation District. His leadership extended to his role as Chairman of the West Bradford Council of Government, where he worked tirelessly to improve the community.
A man of strong faith, Neal was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Waverly, NY, where he served as a church Trustee. His dedication to service and fellowship was further exemplified by his tenure as master of the Lincoln Grange in Bentley Creek, PA.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dorothy (Foquet) Halstead, his beloved wife Catherine Halstead, his brothers Herbert and Dewight Halstead, and his sister Alice Latteer. He is survived by a loving family, including several cherished nieces and nephews, among them Kevin (Debbie) Halstead and Karen (Charlie) Dorn. He also leaves behind sisters-in-law Joann and Jan Halstead, along with special friends Bill and DeLecia Plouse, who held a dear place in his heart.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY. The service celebrating Neal's life will follow at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Phillip Yost. Interment will take place at Hanlon Hill Cemetery, where Neal will be laid to rest.
