Perry A. "Nick" Novotny

Perry A. “Nick” Novotny, 62, of Ridgebury, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home.  He was the loving husband of Rita L. (Farr) Novotny.  The couple married May 21, 1977 and had 38 happy years together.

Nick was born on September 1, 1953 in Summerset, PA, son of the late Frank and Irene (Shauliss) Novotny.  He was a US Army veteran, serving his county in the Viet Nam War where he received the Bronze Star for his Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations against Hostile Forces.  After the Army Nick became a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and retired from Van Dusen in 2008.  He was a member of VFW Post 1536 Sayre, PA, American Legion Post #283 Milltown in Sayre, PA, Ridgebury Sportsman’s Club, and was Catholic by faith.

Nick is survived by his wife Rita, his daughter Tammy Lynn (Marcus) Kingsley of East Smithfield, PA, his grandchildren Brittany Lynn, Kyle Jay, and Nicholas David, his brothers and sisters: Paul (Mary Novotny of Centerville, PA, George (Mary Ann) Novotny, Julia (George) Colon’, Shirley Novotny, and Chole Gray, all of Elmira, NY, his aunt Emma Novotny of Elmira, along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew Mark Novotny.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 12:00 – 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY.  The funeral service to honor Nick’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 20th at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Michael McCormick officiating. Military rites will be given by VFW Post 1536 Sayre, PA.  Burial will take place in the spring in Hanlon Hill Cemetery.
