Rena C. (Spear) Northrop

Rena C. (Spear) Northrop, 74, of Ridgebury Township, PA, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of Cassel J. Northrop.  The couple married August 2, 1963 and had 51 happy years together.

Rena was born on August 31, 1940 in Elmira, NY daughter of the late Ralph and Lena (Hess) Spear.  Rena was an entrepreneur.  She started several business ventures including:  selling antiques, crafts, tropical fish, and opening a restaurant.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with her family, even opening her and Cassel’s home to foster children.


Rena is survived by her loving husband Cassel, her children: Elizabeth Ann (Brian) Egan of Chesnee, SC, and Joseph James (Michele) Northrop of Carlisle, PA, her grandchildren: Christopher Joseph Wagner, Joseph James Northrop, Jr., and Allison Olivia Northrop, her brothers: Dwight (Cheryl) Spear of Southport, NY, Charles Spear of Breesport, NY, and John (Leota) Spear of Dalton, MI, along with several nieces and nephews.  Rena was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Services for Rena C. (Spear) Northrop are private and at the convenience of her family.  The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
