Robert C. Bowman

Robert C. Bowman, 88, of Sayre, PA and formerly of Centerville, PA, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital.  He was the loving husband of Harriet (Combs) Bowman. The couple married January 29, 1948 and had 69 happy years together.

Bob was born on March 27, 1928 in Wellsburg, NY, son of the late Hiram and Mildred (Cornell) Bowman.  He grew up in the Wellsburg area and resided in Centerville for many years before moving to Sayre.  Bob was a US Navy veteran and worked for Schuyler Lumber Company in Wellsburg before becoming a self-employed building contractor from which he retired from in 2010.  He was a founding member and first Fire Chief of the Ridgebury Fire Company, and was United Methodist by faith.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years Harriet, his daughter and her husband Dianne and Dean Bowman Bennett of Laceyville, PA, his son and his wife Bill and Wennie Barrett Bowman of Centerville, PA, as well as 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  He is also survived by his sisters and their husbands Marcia and Harry Green of Elmira, NY and Mary Ann and Bob Weiss of Horseheads, NY, along with several nieces and nephews.  Bob is preceded in death by his parents as well as three brothers and two sisters.

Family and friends are welcome to gather from 4:00-6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY.  The funeral service to honor Bob’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8th at the funeral home. Burial will private in Ashland Cemetery.
