Robert Scott Thorp passed away at the age of 78 after a period of declining health. He was born in Troy, Pa. on December 29, 1946, son of the late, Robert and Lucile Baldwin Thorp. Scott was employed for several years with Ribstone Silos and then at Kennedy Valve where he retired after 44 years.
In retirement Scott enjoyed working in his garden, watching and feeding the wildlife surrounding his country home, cutting wood, and watching the New York Giants.
Scott is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carleen Purdy. Daughters, Lisa, Carla, Tara, son, Eric and step-daughter, Cindy Purdy. Sisters, Sally Guthrie, Betty Lou (Donald) Harkness, brothers, Frank (Michele) Thorp, and Todd (Deirdre) Thorp. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy, sister, Jean Thorp Brobst, brothers-in-law, Barry Brobst, Clarence (Ozzie) Guthrie, Richard, James, Charles and Daryl Moore.
There will be a private family burial at Leonard Salisbury Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott’s name to the Leonard Salisbury Evergreen Cemetery, c/o Judy Thorp, 1344 Leona Road, Troy, PA 16947. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
