Shirley J. Evans, Age 74, of Stringham Road, Gillett, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Sayre Heath Care Center. Shirley was born May 20, 1942 in Clarion, PA daughter of the late William & Katie Sayers. Shirley was married to Steven Evans on October 22, 1966 upon his return from the service and enjoyed 50 years of marriage. She was employed at Wheelers Family Restaurant for many years as a Prep Cook. Shirley attended the Bentley Creek Baptist Church and in her spare time enjoyed reading, sewing, puzzles and spending time with her family.
Surviving are he husband Steven Evans, of Gillett, a son and daughter-in-law, Steven & Tina Evans of Gillett, daughter and son-in-law, Christine & George Chilson of Elmira, NY, her sister, Mabel Fingado of Clarion, PA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents and twelve siblings.
Family and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Shirley’s funeral will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 25, 2017 with Reverend James Ellis of the Gillett Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Hanlon Hill Cemetery, Gillett, PA.
