Shirley A. (Matison) Divel

Shirley A. (Matison) Divel. 87 of Gillett, PA passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. She was the loving wife of John L. Divel. The couple married in August of 1973 and had 50 happy years together. Shirley was born on September 11, 1936 in Ithaca, NY, daughter of the late Rodney and Sadie Rynerson) Matison. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and taking care of her husband and family.

Shirley is survived by her husband John, her children: Susan (Don) Price, Dale (Sharon) Roy, Linda Pierce, Linette Wintermute, Johnny (Lynn) Divel, and Edward Divel, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Rexford Roy and wife Carol, daughter Bonnie Roy, grandchildren: Franklin Crater III, Adam Roy, Chaz Barber, and Derek Pierce, and son-in-law Stephen Wintermute.

Shirley’s graveside service in Gillett Cemetery will be announced at a later date. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. at 279 Main St. Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements.
