Sylvia D. (Denton) Smith

Sylvia D. Smith, 97, passed away on November 24, 2024 at the Chemung County Nursing Facility. Born on June 5, 1927 in Wellsburg, NY, she was the daughter of William and Nettie (Buell) Denton. Sylvia married Robert Smith on June 29, 1948 who preceded her in death in 2012. She worked many years for Rosenbaum's Advertising in Elmira as a copywriter. Sylvia also dedicated her time as the Town of Ashland Historical Society and the Geneological Societies and Association. She was a life member of the Wellsburg Fire Department Auxilary and Zonta International.

Sylvia is survived by her son Mark Smith of Wellsburg and two grandsons Christopher (Patty) Smith and Timothy Smith, both of Nevada, great grandchildren: McKenzie, Amber, Mattie, Maya and Stella, nephew Jack (Laurie) Lewis, two nieces Nancy (Terry) Arnold and Cindy (Earl) Stermer . She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son Michael Smith, sister Harriet Lewis, brother in law Bill Lewis, and niece Patty Wilcox.

Sylvia will be buried alongside her husband Robert in the Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
