Vernon C. Sager, Sr.

Vernon C. Sager, Sr., a devoted family man and retired United States Army Sergeant, passed away peacefully at his home in Columbia Cross Roads, PA, on June 24, 2026. He was 59 years old.

Vernon was born on August 29, 1966, in Elmira, NY, and was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1984. After serving his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army, he retired with the rank of Sergeant. Throughout his life, he remained deeply committed to his community and cherished spending time with family and friends.

Vernon had a passion for bowling and enjoyed attending events held by South Creek Lions Club. Vernon also took great pleasure in gathering around a bonfire with loved ones, sharing stories and laughter. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and attended of Open Arm Ministries in Leona, PA.

Vernon was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mavis J. (Comfort) White. He is survived by his father, Orin Paul White, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA; his sons, Vernon C. Sager, Jr., of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, and Christopher B. (Jennifer) Sager of Athens, PA; his brothers, David (Angela) Sager of Jacksonville, FL, Dale Hayes of West Virginia, Dennis Sager and Larry Sager of Elmira, NY; his stepbrother, Jeffrey (Oscar) White of Corning, NY; his stepsister, Paula (Christopher) Cook of Owego, NY; as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Vernon's life at a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 179 Main St., Wellsburg, NY. The funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Jody Kenyon. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira, NY.
