Warren G. Smith Jr. of Gillet, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 2, 2026. Warren was born in November 1932 in Camden, New Jersey and lived in Mount Laurel, New Jersey until he moved to Gillet, Pennsylvania in 1996. Warren proudly served as a paratrooper with a rank of Sergeant with the U.S. Army Airborne Delta 504th Infantry Regiment out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He worked at Public Service Electric & Gas (PSE&G) for 37 years, retiring in 1992 as a Chief Lineman. Warren was an avid nature lover and enjoyed hiking and bird watching. Later in life, he learned to fly and owned his own Piper Cub, flying out of Elmira Corning Regional Airport for many years.
He was proceeded in death by his sister, Janet Smith, and brother, James Smith, and is survived by his son, John Smith, and his daughter, Janice Gage (Phil), along with his grandchildren, Ron Boogaard (Kelly), Lauren Smith, and Amanda Gage.
The visitation for all to attend will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., located at 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Burial will be held immediately following in Checkerville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
