William Lamarr Day

November 21, 1947 — May 26, 2015

William Lamarr Day, Age 67 of Lowman, NY, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 following an extended illness. Bill was born November 21, 1947 in Elmira, NY, son of Mary (Holcomb) Day Conkling and the late Robert Day. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam era but received an honorable medical discharge due to health issues which he had most of his life. Bill and the former Sylvia Jocelyn Lermeny were married on May 28, 1977 and would have celebrated 38 years together on Thursday. Bill was an avid sportsman, card player and gardener. His family will miss the vegetables and wild game on their table. Bill’s memberships included the Sullivan Trail Rod & Gun Club, Ridgebury Sportsman Club and he was also a former dedicated member of the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department. He was a good man and sociable person who would lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Day Conkling of Virginia Beach, VA, father-in-law Edward Skinkle of Lowman,  his loving wife Sylvia Jocelyn Day of Lowman, two sons, Craig Day (Suzanne Sumner) of Lowman, Thomas Day (Francesca) of Lowman, a grandson, Gavin of Tully, NY, sisters, Nancy Storch of Ocala, FL, Catherine Holroyd of Virginia Beach, VA, a brother, Robert (Christy) Day of Chambersburg, PA, close friends, Jason Robinson of Springwater, NY, Raymond Fraboni of Elmira, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held at the family cabin on Armenia Mountain, PA in July.
