Arthur W. Grace

Arthur W. Grace of Chemung New York passed away on January 14, 2024, at the age of 96. Arthur was born in Owens Mills at the home of his parents Frank and Pearl Simcoe Grace. He moved to his treasured farm next to his parents’ land when he married Madge Keiffer. They shared 67 years together until her passing in 2015.

He was a hard worker on his father’s dairy farm, raised chickens on his farm, and enjoyed raising Herford cattle. He was a machinist at Schweizer Aircraft for 26 years of dedicated employment.

Arthur enjoyed walking, sitting on the porch of his cabin overlooking the pond, mowing his yard, cutting firewood, camping, boating, winters in Florida, playing cards and dominos, eating chocolate ice cream, and time with family. Arthur and Madge took many cross- country trips and drove to Alaska the year he retired. Also, on his retirement list was reading the Bible from cover to cover. He was a life member of the United Methodist Church of Owens Mills and Chemung.

He was predeceased by his wife Madge Keiffer Grace, two sons Gerald Arthur and Rexford Earl Grace. Also, predeceasing him were older brothers Ambrose, Elwood, Robert, and Frank Grace and sisters Katherine Grace and Irene Doane.

He is survived by his son Steven (Cynthia) of Vernon Connecticut and daughter Rebecca (Stephen) Horton of Chemung, New York.

Grandchildren include Geoff Grace (Jen), Michael Grace (Araceli), Kevin Grace (Sarah), Andrea Grace, Nathon Horton (Jessica), Jason Horton. Also surviving Arthur are seven great grandchildren, many nieces and one nephew.

A celebration of Arthur and Madge’s lives have been entrusted to The Robert's Funeral Home, and will be held by the family at a later date. Donations in memory of Arthur may be made to the Chemung Fire Department.
