Elwin L. “Dutch” Hoose, Age 86, of Southport formerly of Wellsburg, NY passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility. Dutch was born November 2, 1931 in Troy, PA son of the late Delace & Louise (Miller) Hoose. He was a graduate of Troy High School and then served his country with the US Marines. He and the former Dawn E. Sharp were married on January 8, 1955 and celebrated 63 years together. Dutch and Dawn operated a dairy farm in Wellsburg for many years. Dutch loved his family and truly loved his babies. He was often called the "Baby Whisperer" by family. After retiring he found a new love of fishing that he spent many hours doing. He was a former Member and Chief of the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his wife Dawn E. Hoose of Southport, his children, Ken & Ann Marie Hoose of Pine City, Rochelle & Carl Bush of Breesport, Sandra & Bill Ricks of Wellsburg, Trish & Gerry Costa of Corning, Dale Hoose of Wellsburg, Sonya & Tom Beecher of Michigan, grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Ashley, Gordan, Garrett, Kellen, Jennifer, Justin, Finnegan, Keagan, great-grandchildren, Madison, Sophia, Bella, Wes, Brooklynn, Josie, Aubrey, two brothers, Kenneth Hoose of Wellsburg, Ronald & Alice Hoose of Bentley Creek, PA, a sister, Helen Laudenslager of Williamsport, PA, brother & sister-in-law, Charles & Janet Sharp of Horseheads, special nieces and nephews, Jenelle, James, Larry, Scottie, Rick, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dutch was predeceased by his parents, and five siblings, Marion, Max, Shirley, Gladys and Betty.
Family and friends are invited to call Friday, July 13, 2018 from 2 to 4 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY. Funeral and committal services will be held following calling hours at 4 PM with Rev. Hack of the Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
