Lester Wilcox Obituary

Lester J. Wilcox, Age 74, of Gillett, passed away Sunday, October 29,2023 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira NY. Lester was born August 1, 1949, in Sayre, PA son of the late U. Grant & Martha (Smith) Wilcox. Following graduation from high school Lester served his country in the US Navy from 1969 to 1970. He and the former Susan M. Bouton were married on March 18, 1972, and celebrated 51 years together. He was employed by Westinghouse, Beam Mack as a diesel mechanic, Thomas & Betts and owner/operator of Wilcox Truck and Auto in Bentley Creek, Pennsylvania. He loved working and repairing trucks and basically anything else. He was a member of the East Smithfield Federated Church, American Baptist Men of Pennsylvania and Delaware where he was one of the founders of disaster relief truck sent out in times of natural disasters and he also volunteered with the Ridgebury Little League.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Susan M. Wilcox, his children; Leslie Grace Roche and her husband Michael, Benjamin Wilcox and his wife Kimberly French, Jacob “Jake” Wilcox and his wife Amanda Bowman-Wilcox, grandchildren, Courtney Wilcox, Nathan Wilcox, Anna and Luke Lyons, Seth Roche, Ezra Roche, Hope Roche, Macie Barone, Avery Bowman, Oliver Bowman-Wilcox, Maverick Bowman-Wilcox, great grandson, Isaiah Lyons (soon to come), siblings, Marsha Joann (Lewis) Wells, Walter Jay Wilcox, Juanita Jane Benson,

Lester was predeceased by his parents and a brother-in-law, Donald Benson.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday November 4, 2023, at the East Smithfield Federated Church, Church & Main Streets, East Smithfield, PA 18817 Pastor Tim Robson Officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, East Smithfield, PA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street, Wellsburg, NY 14894.
