Mary L. (Moore) Hughson, of Wellsburg, NY, beloved wife of the late Albert B. Hughson, passed away on April 14, 2024, in Elmira, NY, at the age of 90.
Born on April 4, 1934, in Elmira, NY, Mary dedicated her life to serving others through her work experiences, including her roles at Thatcher’s, H&R Block, and as an Avon Lady in Wellsburg. Her dedication to her community extended beyond her professional life as a lifetime member of the Wellsburg Fire Department Woman's Auxiliary and a founding member of the Town of Ashland Historical Society.
Mary was known for her love of family, weekly card games, and outings. She was a “Puzzle-acholic”, a great sense of humor, and was admired for her old-school charm and graciousness, always sending thank-you notes for every kind gesture she received.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Blanche Moore, her husband Albert B. Hughson, her sons Christopher and Albert "Bert" Hughson, Jr., and her siblings Robert, Lucille, Marian, David, and Kathryn.
Mary is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Michael (Deborah Dininny) Hughson, Mark (Debra) Hughson, Cindy Hughson, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friend Wilma Campbell.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. in Wellsburg, NY, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM. The service, officiated by Pastor R. Paul Mattison, will follow at 1:00 PM, with interment at Ashland Cemetery, Wellsburg, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsburg Fire Department Woman's Auxiliary in honor of Mary's lifelong dedication to her community.
