Leone (Stevens) Phillips, 92, of Bentley Creek, PA went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from her home surrounded by her family.  She was the loving wife of the late Robert A. Phillips.  The couple married in April 16, 1947 and had 52 happy years together.

Leone was born on May 20, 1925 in Ridgebury, PA, daughter of the late Raymond and Mattie (May) Stevens.  She was a homemaker, worked at the donut shop on College Ave. and in the Housekeeping Department of St. Joseph’s Hospital, both in Elmira, NY, and at the Martha Lloyd Community in Troy, PA.  She was an over 50 year member of the Berrytown Wesleyan Church where she worked in the nursery, served as treasurer and was a member of the Board of Administration. 

Leone is survived by her sons: Lee (Beverly) Phillips of Gillett, PA, Allen (Rose) Phillips of Lyndonville, NY, Harold Phillips of Bentley Creek, PA, Russell (Shawnee) Phillips of Etters, PA, her daughters: Roberta (Leland) Jelliff of Bentley Creek, PA, Waneta (Donald) Warner of Bentley Creek, PA, Laura (Lester) McClelland of Spencerport, NY, and Thea (Dean) Horton of Port Crane, NY, 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, a step daughter Helene Fuller of Big Flats, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, an infant brother, and    sisters Mary Lou Vosburgh and Blanche Stevens.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Berrytown Wesleyan Church, 178 Burt Road, Gillett, PA. The funeral service to celebrate Leone’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 8th at the church with her pastor, Rev. Patrick Kelly officiating.  Burial will be private in Bentley Creek Cemetery. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Leone’s memory to the Berrytown Wesleyan Church, 178 Burt Road, Gillett, PA 16925.
